I don’t know about you, but I find the daily deal sites less and less compelling these days. I know that they are trying to improve their profitability in order to stay in business, and one of their strategies has been to add more “goods,” which have higher profit margins. But higher profit margins means, of course, that the deals are less compelling. And then there’s the fact that there are so darn many deals to sort through every day, with some really questionable companies thrown in there (I saw the “pay to name a star” registry on one of the sites recently. Come on.)
But today I actually see a Living Social deal I like: Pay $35 for a $100 credit at Picaboo. It expires June 23, 2013, so it’s not like you can save it for Christmas presents, but still. Everybody appreciates a photo book. Except grumps. And you don’t buy presents for grumps, why would you?
P.S. Would it be very wrong of me to use my $100 to make a full color scrapbook of pictures of Daniel Radcliffe as Alan Ginsberg? I mean, he’s not a child anymore. OK, you’re right. It still feels wrong. But …
